Still Small Voice
By: Wilma Ditterline
You know, I have to admit, while reading through some of my past
articles lately I realized something. I realized that I spend the
time writing these things down for those of you who read them, but
I don't take enough of it to heart myself. I give all of this advice
and these words that God puts on my heart, but then I forget to
see that He's giving it directly to me as well. I think sometimes
we get so caught up in our busy lives of school, work, family, and
friends that we forget to stop for a while and listen to that still
small voice. We go about our day and wonder why we don't feel God
around us, why we feel like our prayers are hitting the ceiling.
Then, we expect also to be able to speak His life and word into
others without feeding ourselves with it. Trust me I'm talking to
myself here too.
I think it's time to remember something simple; take the time to
rest, to listen, to hear what He is trying to speak to you. Do you
know that He loves you? I bet you know that He loves everyone, but
have you internalized that to understand how much He wants to speak
to you and love you too? I often get caught up in the idea of loving
everyone and knowing that God loves everyone, but it's in those
quiet times of heartfelt pain and turmoil that I forget He loves
me too. Take a breather with me. Let's just sit for a few minutes
and listen.
